Server Start-up

Startup Tab
This tab appears in the Server Properties dialog and is used to determine whether and how the Mailtraq Server is started.

Mailtraq normally installs as a Windows 2000-family service.
Otherwise, Mailtraq runs when started by a user, and is shut-down when that user logs off. If Mailtraq is being used by a number of users, then either Windows Service options should be used to provide uninterrupted service even when no user is logged in.

Do not start Mailtraq automatically
This options prevents Mailtraq from loading itself during Windows startup and may be useful if a "clean" operating system is required at any time for fault finding or maintenance purposes. Mailtraq may be started as an application by double clicking on mailtraq.exe in Path:\Program Files\Mailtraq.

Load when any user logs on
With this option, the Mailtraq Server is started whenever a user logs on. Mailtraq is shut down when the user subsequently logs off.

Load when current user logs on
This option applies only to the user currently logged on when this option is selected. Changing the option later for another user will not affect this option. To clear this option, the user who originally set the option must change it.

Install as a Windows 95/98/ME Service
Mailtraq starts as soon as Windows is loaded if this option is selected, and does not close until the operating system is unloaded.

Install as a Windows NT/2000/XP Service
With this option, Mailtraq installs as an NT/2000-family service and appears in the Services Control Panel Applet. In order to cancel this option, Mailtraq must not have been started as an NT service, but as an application (e.g. by double clicking on mailtraq.exe in Path:\Program Files\Mailtraq)

Show the Console Icon...
If this option is unchecked an icon does not appear on the System Tray.

Tip
Preventing the console icon from appearing in the System Tray is an effective way to limit access to the Mailtraq Server.

Reboot Mailtraq periodically
Enable this option to cause Mailtraq to restart itself at the specified intervals. This tool is used to clear socket and memory allocations in Windows.

Configuration Tip

To stop the Mailtraq service from the command-line - at Start | Run enter:  net stop mailtraqservice
