Mailbox The Mailbox Properties dialog is used to configure mailboxes in Mailtraq and can be accessed by choosing New, User Mailbox from the File Menu in the console or by choosing Properties from the context menu of any mailbox in the console.
Mailboxes are normally created in the Console from: File | New - Mailbox
Primary mailboxes Mailboxes appear in the console as to indicate a Primary mailbox. Each Primary mailbox can have mail collected from it by an email client, and counts as a User mailbox for licensing purposes.
Secondary mailboxes Mailboxes also appear in the console as to indicate a Secondary mailbox. These maiboxes are used for sorting and filtering mail. There may be an unlimited number of Secondary mailboxes. They do not count against the license, but email clients cannot collect directly from them.
Mailtraq mailboxes provide a temporary mail store from which mail can be collected. Mail collected from mailboxes using the POP3 protocol (defined in RFC1939) can be retained in the mailbox or deleted at the user's discretion. Mailtraq can also store mail in a specified folder in KA9Q format which is used by a number of older mail clients. Once mail has been gatewayed to disk in this way, it can no longer be accessed or controlled by Mailtraq.
Tip: It is important that the Administrator considers the Archiving rules for mailboxes in the system: if all mailboxes are set to retain all mesages without expiry, very large message stores can be created.
