Features > Archiving > Archiving with AFX Archiving with AFXAFX was introduced as a beta option in build 2156
Archiving provides a searchable store of messages from which one can recover an 'old' message. It also relieves the burden on the mailbox in IMAP/Webmail by moving messages out of contention so they don't have to be loaded.
Mail that is archived is copied from the mail\inbox\mailslot.afx file to the mail\archive\mailslot.afx file. Once in the archive file, the only way to see it is in the search results.
How to search across mailslots.
There is an all-mailslot search option in Console | Tools | Search for Message that iteratively searches all the mailslots and then presents the number of matches in each mailslot with the option to select a single mailslot and search only within it.
When you set the Archive-tab in a Mailbox messages are physically moved to a different .afx file.
More information
Archiving will take place during a maintenance period
If the "Archive after" is less than 4 hours, archiving takes place every four times per period (e.g. 4 hours = hourly, 2 hours = every 30 minutes).
If the "Archive after" is less than one week, archiving takes place once per day.
Otherwise it takes place once per week. |
